Angel and Veil

On his way home from the Cave of Ḥirā’, the Prophet  met a
messenger of Khadīja  who had been sent to search for the Prophet
 as he had not returned (home) at his usual time. When the Prophet
 reached home, he related the incident to Khadīja .
Just as Allāh had made arrangements to provide the Prophet 
with contentment and to satisfy his heart, He provided him with peace,

happiness and tranquillity. Similarly, as an additional arrangement from
Allāh Most High, after all the years of companionship with the Prophet
, Khadīja  knew with certainty that this would occur.
After hearing the incident from the Prophet , Khadīja 
requested, “When Jibrīl  comes to you again, will you inform me?”
The Prophet  replied, “Yes, of course.” As mentioned earlier,
Jibrīl  used to visit the Prophet  not necessarily to pass on
revelation, but sometimes to greet him and sometimes just to look at him
from a distance.
So when Jibrīl  came to the Prophet  again, he said to
Khadīja , “You requested me to inform you when Jibrīl  comes
again; look – he is here!” As soon as she heard that Jibrīl  was present,
she covered her face with a veil and took the Prophet  in her arms
and provided her lap for the Prophet  to rest on. This act of Khadīja
 was like the act of someone who provides comfort and solace to
their beloved. After providing her lap for the Prophet  to rest on,
Khadīja  then asked, “Can you still see him?” He  replied,
“Yes, I can still see him.” She turned the Prophet  to another side
and asked, “Can you still see him?” He  replied, “Yes, I see him.”
Khadīja  moved the Prophet  towards the middle and asked
again, “Can you still see him?” He  answered, “Yes.”
As Allāh Most High had chosen Khadīja  to provide solace and
comfort to the Prophet  and to protect him from the Makkan
enemies and the harms of the people of Quraysh, she was familiar with
the Prophet’s  nature and habits. Thereafter she uncovered her
face and asked, “O Messenger of Allāh! Can you still see him?” the Prophet
 replied, “No, I can’t see him now.” Hearing this, Khadīja 
aptly deduced, “انّه ملک – He is indeed an angel!”
The enemies of Islām in Makka would sometimes describe the Prophet
 as a madman and sometimes as a devil. However, Khadīja 
came to the perfect conclusion and remarked, “ابشر انّه ملک – O Messenger
of Allāh! Glad tidings to you, he is most definitely an angel, I am certain
of that. Rejoice, since the one that you are seeing is most definitely an
angel!”

Her act of covering herself with a veil and subsequently removing it
from her face and then asking the Prophet  whether he could still
see Jibrīl  was testimony to the fact that he was an angel, as only an
angel would leave once a woman uncovered her face. She then immediately
went to Waraqa ibn Nawfal and informed him of the whole incident. Waraqa
already knew the Prophet  well, and after listening to details of
the event, without hesitation he began to say, “قدوس قدوس – The most holy,
the most holy. This is the blessed angel Jibrīl , sent by Allāh Most
High. This is الناموس الاکبر (the Archangel Gabriel) who has come. He is The
Great Nāmūs (the Archangel Gabriel) who used to come to Mūsā 
and the other Prophets.” Waraqa also aptly deduced, “انه نبی هذه الامة – He
[Muḥammad] is indeed the Prophet of this nation. The Prophet of The Last
Era has come, who was destined to come towards the end of time.”
So (as referred to earlier) it was in this blessed month and during these
blessed moments that the Prophet  was granted the blessing of
messengerhood.
These radio programmes are striving towards creating the love for the
Prophet  and encouraging the recitation of ṣalāt and salām (peace
and blessings) upon him. May Allāh abundantly reward all those people
who are responsible for these programmes.
There is a need to bring the Umma towards this through different
means. How the Umma has strayed, and continues to go astray, during
this period of trials in this material world! We have been commanded to
keep our focus constantly on the Prophet , in every moment of
our lives, with every passing breath. There are numerous ways to attain
this, such as via this radio channel, by which you are endeavoring to bring
people closer to the Prophet ; may Allāh grant acceptance.
