Thereafter he went to the houses of ʿĀ’isha and Fāṭima ,
where the latter informed Muʿādh that the Prophet used
to remember him and stated, “اقرئی معاذا منی السلام – Convey my greetings to
Muʿādh and give him the glad tidings that when you will walk in
the Plain of Resurrection, the entire group of scholars will be behind you
and you will be walking in front of them, as their leader and the leader of
the ʿulamā’.” Can you imagine! What state he would have been in when the
greetings of the Prophet were conveyed to him?
He must have responded by stating:
منی السلام علی من لست انساه ولا یمل لسانی قط ذکراه
فان غاب عنی فان القلب مسکنه ومن یکن بفوادی کیف انساه
Greetings from me to the one who I do not forget! My tongue never
tires of remembering him; if he is absent from me, then my heart is his
place of abode; and how can I forget the one who is in my heart?
May Allāh grant us the ability, with love ingrained in our hearts, to
constantly send greetings to the Prophet . May Allāh grant us the
status of ḥuḍūrī (presence) which Allāh grants his special servants.
