Revelation of the Qur’ān in the Blessed Month

Once, during these seclusions, Jibrīl  came to the Prophet .
Beforehand, in order to enable the Prophet  to become accustomed
to the process, Allāh had sent the other three archangels besides Jibrīl
. These angels would present themselves before the Prophet
, sometimes with the purpose of conveying greetings to him, so
that when the process of revelation commenced, he would not experience
fear or consider the revelation to be a new phenomenon. That is why,
when the process of revelation of the Qur’ān begins and Jibrīl  comes
with the revelation of اقرا باسم, embracing him thrice, the Prophet 
experienced a unique condition. His companions comment on this state
(of revelation) saying that the Prophet  would not only perspire
profusely, but would feel as though a heavy load had been placed on his
blessed body, causing it to become loose and his blessed neck to lean to
one side. As our Prophet  experienced the above during the first
revelation, it was only natural for him as a human to become worried.
There had been experiences prior to prophethood, whereby unseen
divine arrangements had become clear to the Prophet. Regarding
these, the Prophet used to say that stones would greet him before
as he passed by. Similarly on this occasion, as he left the Cave of Ḥirā’
towards Makka,
تقول الاحجار السلام علیک یا رسول الله
the stones were saying, “Peace be upon you, O Messenger of Allāh!” The
Prophet  was able to hear the greetings of the stones. Allāh Most
High utilised the surroundings to comfort the Prophet  and made
this arrangement in order to remove any apprehension from the Noble
Prophet .
In the same narration, the Prophet  mentions that:
ولما کنت فی وسط الجبل سمعت من السماء
“When I was descending from the Cave of Ḥirā’, and had yet only
reached half way down the mountain and while listening to greetings
of the stones from all sides, I heard a voice from the heavens saying, ‘O
Muḥammad! You are the Messenger of Allāh.’”May Allāh bless us with the opportunity to visit these blessed places
regularly. May Allāh grant us the opportunity to visit these places over
and over again. Our sinful feet, legs and other body parts are not worthy
of even touching those blessed places. We ought to present ourselves with
our heads touching the ground. May Allāh make it easy for all of us and
decree it for us. May Allāh fill our eyes with light and our hearts with joy
by seeing and visiting the many places that are linked to and filled with
the memories of the Prophet . May Allāh make it possible for us,
during our ʿUmra trips, to visit the other blessed places where (due to visa
restrictions) we do not have permission to travel.

“The best among you (Muslims) are those who learn the Qur’an and teach it.”

The Prophet (peace be upon him)
