These are the words of an ardent lover and sacrificing devotee of the Noble Prophet , the King of Ethiopia (Najāshī or Negus). It is his sermon which I recited before commencing the talk. When did he recite this? When conducting the marriage ceremony of Umm Ḥabība to the Noble Prophet . When the Prophet learned that Umm Ḥabība’s husband had become an apostate and had died in that state, he proposed to her. When Najāshī (Negus) recited the nikāḥ sermon, he recited it with these words. Thereafter he gave Umm Ḥabība to the Prophet in marriage saying these words, “I give the Noble Prophet in marriage to Umm Ḥabība.”
